Comments made by Tesla CEO, Elon Musk, at a recent conference in Norway suggest that a new, more affordable Tesla car could be on the way.
Reportedly, due to the extremely successful launch of the Model 3, the brand is already planning its next model and it could be even cheaper.
Affordable electric vehicles are in high demand at the moment, so it’s no surprise the Model 3 went down so well with the public. According to various reports around 400,000 orders have been placed for the new car and it hasn’t even entered production yet.
Tesla, which is fairly new to the industry, was able to create a product that’s high in demand and by cornering the electric car market, it managed to establish itself as a serious contender.
The brand entered the automotive industry with a single goal in mind – to produce affordable EV’s offering great performance. Whilst this was always the aim, Tesla was forced to start out with an expensive model, to ensure growth and secure investment.
Things are definitely going to plan for the brand and if the success of the Model 3 is anything to go by, the brand could have a bright future ahead.
The electric car market is definitely getting more competitive as time progresses, with more brands experimenting with alternative powertrains in the recent years.
Although nothing has officially been confirmed yet, a new model in the near future seems likely. For now though, the brand needs to focus on delivering the Model 3 and figuring out a way to increase its output.
Once the Model 3 is produced and delivered, the brand will likely announce the new vehicle.
