This edition of the Ford GT features bespoke detailing and a significant drop in weight; this is the limited Cabon Edition
Ford has just released details of a limited carbon edition for the Ford GT. This is primarily a response to customers wanting an even more dedicated racing car. The GT shaves an extra 18kg in weight saving while also have unique carbon fibre detailing and unique colour trim.
First thing Ford did was starting with the carbon bodied base. Ford went to work stripping out the storage bins and interior cup holders. Also, putting in some new matte carbon door sills, centre console and air register pods. Ford has also included some new seat trim and additional clear anodized aluminium shift panels. Replacing the usual black items from the standard model.
On the outside, there is more carbon shown on the lower bodywork, A-pillars and of course Carbon wheels! Carbon wheels are an expensive option, and anyone would be scared to scrape them. Additionally, there are newly exposed carbon stripes running down the length of the body. You can highlight these in one of four optional colours that also appear on the door mirrors and callipers.
A lot of the weight reductions comes from a titanium exhaust system. Despite all the comprehensive weight saving, not all the comfort and convenience features have been completely dropped. The infotainment system and air condition have been kept.
This new model comes just after the ford announced and expanded production run for the GT. They added an extra 350 units to the original 1000 planned. However, despite the high price tag the Ford GT has proven to be incredibly popular.
